Sjávargrillið has been delighting its guests for years since its opening in 2011.
The restaurant is located on the corner of Skólavörðustígur and Óðinsgata, in the heart of the city center where bustling life and culture meet. Sjávargrillið specializes in grilled Icelandic dishes along with international flavors and has created a permanent place for itself with many Icelanders. The restaurant has also received excellent reviews from guests from all over the world.

The atmosphere at Sjávargrillin is cozy and warm, where excellent service is paramount and we always strive to meet the different dietary needs of our guests. The restaurant is on two floors in a unique setting, where, among other things, corrugated iron plates from the old ice house in Flatey in Skjálfanda have been given a new role and old driftwood from Héðinsfjörður gives the restaurant a warm and personal touch.

First time in Iceland as a tourist I have been pleasantly surprised by this charming local restaurant. The food was delicately prepared with the best fresh ingredients and refined taste.
Such a delicious place! The staff were super accommodating and the food quality was amazing. They had a few vegan options which were exquisite – cannot fault them. The mushroom broth, the dumplings and they even made us some vegan sushi on request. Highly recommend!
This was our first experience food-wise in Iceland and it didn’t disappoint! I had the cod dish and it was really excellent. The lamb dish that my partner had was also very tasty and well cooked. And the cherry on the cake? Great atmosphere with good blues music on the background. Such details matter…
This was my first meal in Iceland the first time I came here and I’ve been back on subsequent trips. The food is always excellent and tasty. My family loves the langoustine salad and I love their seafood soup. They are not salad people but they all loved it. The grilled salmon is delicious too.
Visited this place during the food walk and was totally drawn to their lobster tacos. The combination of ingredients were brilliant! Returned twice subsequently and the other dishes didn’t disappoint. Ambience, service and their food quality adds up to an enjoyable dining experience. You wouldn’t want to leave this place without checking out their tuna tartare and catch of the day. Recommended!
Our big group called for a last minute reservation and they were able to squeeze us in. The food was absolutely to die for! Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection and the perfect portion size. The cocktails were also a big hit for our entire table. We were sat downstairs and enjoyed the quiet, cosy feeling. A fantastic closing dinner for our trip.
Really delicious food. Had our last dinner in Iceland here and it was sooo good. Highly recommend coming! I had the lamb tenderloin and it was really tender. My friend had the seafood pasta and she enjoyed it as well.
I definitely recommend this place. It seems to be popular among both locals and tourists in Reykjavik. The service was very good, quick and all servers were attentive and clearly well trained and they knew lots about the dishes among other things. Flavours were unique, fresh and you can definitely see that the chefs do it with lots of heart and take pride in lots of local ingredients, if not all. I would recommend this place though make sure to make a reservation as it definitely gets full.
What a fantastic meal and experience. Each dish was simply exquisite and delicious. The Lobster Tacos are incredible and the lamb and beef were top of the charts. The staff were all friendly and super helpful. I cannot recommend this establishment enough.
